Working With Gnodde Associates
Our reason for being is
to make placements which are beneficial to
candidates and clients alike. In this way we develop
relationships, and build our foundation for
continued success. In order to make quality
placements we need to receive the same level of
accurate and timely communication from candidates
that we have pledged to give them. Specifically,
we would expect candidates working with Gnodde
Associates to adhere to the following
guidelines.
|
1.
|
Have an up-to-date
resume, preferably along the lines we
suggest in the Resume Writing section.
Don't include anything that isn't true
because items can be, and often are, checked.
Also, known inaccuracies on a hiring
company's application can be grounds for
dismissal after a person is hired.
|
|
|
|
2.
|
Be forthright about
anything that will have a material impact
on your qualifications and / or your level
of interest in the position. If over
the course of a search there is a change in
your situation, this information should be
communicated to Gnodde Associates as soon
as possible.
|
|
|
|
|
3.
|
Be honest and
complete about your current compensation
and your requirements to make a job
change. Gnodde Associates will give
candidates an accurate range on the
expected compensation and we will not
present you for a position unless you confirm to
us that the range is satisfactory. We have
found that withholding compensation
information so as to negotiate a better
package may raise concerns about your
credibility. Bear in mind that a hiring
company usually wants to make an attractive
and fair offer, however, should you receive
an offer that doesn't meet your
requirements, you can always come back with
a counter.
|
|
|
|
4.
|
Be truthful about
other companies that you may be
pursuing. Credibility issues are raised
for both the candidate and Gnodde
Associates if we present you to a client
that already knows about you. Also, it is
embarrassing for us to blindside our client
with the fact that a good candidate has
withdrawn because of accepting another
position for which there was no
forewarning.
|
|
|
|
5.
|
Be honest about your
level of interest and your reasons for
wanting to pursue a particular
opportunity. Recruiters are generally
not interested in window shoppers; however, in
some situations the right window shopper may
be acceptable. By being honest about your
motivations Gnodde Associates can point out
what our client can or cannot provide to
satisfy your needs. If our current
assignment is not a good match, we at least
may learn what to call you about in the
future.
|
|
|
|
6.
|
Return phone calls
and provide feedback on interviews in a
timely manner. We know that you are
busy, but so are we and so is our
client. On the other hand, a phone call or
an email takes just a minute and it's a
small investment to preserve your
reputation as a considerate and honest
professional.
|
|
|
|
7.
|
Do not contact
Gnodde Associates too frequently. If we
are not talking to you directly about one
of our assignments but we know that you are
in the job market, please do not make
frequent contact with us. We will contact
you as soon as we have a position for
which we believe you are well
qualified.
|
|
|
|
8.
|
Do not use Gnodde
Associates as means to negotiate a better
situation with your current employer.
No one likes to be used, therefore it
would be unprofessional and unethical to do
this. Even in the absence of such intent,
candidates have been known to entertain and
accept counteroffers. Remember, regardless
of what that "loyal" employer says, a
counteroffer is an admission that it has
not been properly recognizing your worth to
the organization. In periods of tight labor
markets employers have done some strange
things in order to keep people. When the
market turns around, however, and it
remembers the circumstances by which you
got where you are, your employer might
start treating you differently.
|
|
|
|
9.
|
Try and keep an open
mind and think about the future. Just because you have not
explored a particular area before, it does
not mean that it may not be an excellent
career opportunity for you. The best long term job
and compensation security is to always have
marketable skills and experiences. If you are
well paid, but in a narrow but cyclical field, you
might want to consider broadening out if
given the opportunity. Also, often the best career
move is a lateral one which
allows you to get into a better market or a
more rapidly growing organization.
|
|
|
Now that you know who
we are and how we work, we hope that you have
concluded that Gnodde Associates can be a good
source of new job opportunities for you. If there is
compatibility and if your background is in line with
the types of searches that we conduct, then we
encourage you to send us your resume at gnoddeassociates@comcast.net
